The Exceptional Care You Need—When You Need It

Exceptional. Responsive. Attentive.

Joanne SheehyWith these three words, Joanne Sheehy sums up the care she received at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center after undergoing total hip replacement surgery earlier this year.

“The pain was excruciating,” the Sun City West resident recalls during the time prior to her surgery. “My left hip was bone on bone. I could barely walk, and even getting into bed was painful. I enjoy being active and involved in various social activities, yet it became almost impossible for me to do anything.”

Joanne first sought care at another hospital in the East Valley where she had been a patient several times over the past 20 years, although she was told on multiple occasions that her surgery had to be delayed.

Joanne’s suffering became unbearable. She had endured debilitating pain for months and was desperate for answers.

Joanne mentioned her plight to friends, who were quick to suggest Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center and The CORE Institute. She was astonished to learn the care she needed was right here in the West Valley, close to home. She made an appointment with Dr. Paul Sousa, orthopedic surgeon, who worked with the hospital to schedule her surgery promptly.

The results were life-changing! Joanne recovered beautifully from her state-of-the-art anterior hip replacement. Even after surgery, she experienced minimal pain and was discharged the next day. One week later she sat with friends on her patio at home. Three weeks later she was walking—and driving to a picnic. Within a month, she was back to doing everything she loves to do, including water aerobics.

Elated, Joanne says she felt like she had uncovered a secret about this medical oasis in the West Valley.
